About Me
My Therapy Approach

I'm Afton, a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist passionate about collaborating with highly committed women and couples to reach their personal goals. My therapeutic style is reflective of who I hope to be-authentic, compassionate, and humble. I believe there are times when humor naturally comes into therapy work as well which can feel like a breath of fresh air in the heaviness that life can bring.
It is likely that you might find our work together to be both challenging and extremely rewarding. I consider it my absolute privilege to be invited into your self growth and therefore consider the therapy room to be a sacred space. I strive to uphold a safe, accepting, inviting, and confidential place for you.
My goal is to provide you with a unique therapy experience that allows you to exceed your therapy goals and discover the heart of the issue to create lasting change in your life. I love the entire therapy process from the moment someone walks into my door until they reach their goals and we have a closing session. It brings me the sincerest joy to witness an individual or relationship experience transformation.
Discovering Therapy
My love for therapy began during high school when a Psychologist visited my Psychology class. I had always been fascinated with understanding emotions and relationships and had now found a career where I could explore both! I knew from that moment that I wanted to gain every bit of knowledge I could to pursue my dream of becoming a therapist. I have spent the last twenty-one years growing my love and knowledge for therapy. I joyfully opened my private practice doors in downtown Overland Park, Kansas in 2010 so that I could share my gifts with courageous women and committed couples who are open to creating positive changes in their life.
